Why an at-home vet?

Made for pets who’d rather stay home.

If car rides, carriers or waiting rooms leave your pet trembling, or you dreading the trip, a home visit changes everything.

Less stress

No car trips, carriers or waiting rooms. Your pet stays in familiar surroundings from start to finish.

Anxious & senior pets

Ideal for pets who find the clinic, travel or handling difficult, and for older pets with stiff joints.

A truer picture of health

Pets behave more naturally at home, and readings like blood pressure are often more accurate when they’re relaxed.

Fits around your family

Weekend visits every Saturday and Sunday. No travel, no waiting rooms.

All your pets, one visit

Multi-pet households can have everyone checked in a single appointment.

Time to talk

Unhurried consultations, with time for every question so you can make informed decisions.

Peaceful goodbyes

Quality-of-life assessments and euthanasia at home, in a calm and familiar place with family close by.

Meet Dr Nicole Hunwick

Kia ora! I’m a Waikato born-&-raised companion animal vet with more than ten years’ experience in Hamilton, the BOP, and overseas. I’ve been a pet owner for 34 years, so I know how it feels to worry about an animal you love.

I focus on preventative care plans tailored to each animal, so they can live happy, healthy and pain-free lives. I know vet visits can be stressful for pets and people, so I aim for a calm, positive experience every time, and make sure you have the information you need to make the right decisions.

At home, I’m mum to a young daughter and a very large white cat called Professor Dumbledore.

“Your pet isn’t just an appointment — they’re family.”

Anxious & senior dogs
So pleased we found Nicole! Super helpful having her come to our place for an anxious dog who doesn’t like vet clinics and also an elderly dog.

Unwell cat
When your cat isn’t feeling well, the last thing you want to do is load them into a carrier and endure long wait times at a clinic… Having the vet come straight to us was a complete game-changer.

Miniature Schnauzer
Nicole recently visited our home to treat our miniature Schnauzer, Penny. She was incredibly professional and reassuring… Nicole took time to explain the health issue to us and outline a detailed care plan going forward.

Dog afraid of car rides
My dog is terrified of cars, so having a vet who comes to us has been a lifesaver. He absolutely loved her… Even my cat likes her, and she wasn’t even the patient!

What to expect from a home vet visit

  1. Get in touch

Call, email or send a message. If your pet is anxious or hard to handle, let me know so I can plan ahead.

  2. I come to you

A full 40–60 minute consultation in your home, at your pet’s pace. Travel within Hamilton is included.

  3. A clear plan

You’ll leave with a tailored care plan and follow-up. If surgery or advanced tests are needed, I’ll arrange a referral.
